The visit of President Attilio Fontana

"One of our region's highlights, an environmental, cultural, and identity-defining asset for Lombardy." This is how Lombardy Region President Attilio Fontana described the Ticino Valley Park during his visit to Ponte Vecchio in Magenta on Friday. The visit, which also included Gianluca Comazzi, Regional Councilor for Land and Green Systems, offered an opportunity to explore the park's key challenges, particularly in terms of sustainability, environmental safety, and the enhancement of an area home to approximately half a million residents.

"The Ticino Park," said Attilio Fontana, "is one of our region's highlights, an environmental, cultural, and identity-building asset that the Lombardy Region intends to continue to promote with commitment and care. Collaboration between institutions is the way to jointly address new environmental challenges. This protected area is a source of pride for every Lombard citizen. Here, respect for the environment is combined with the living and working needs of many residents every day, offering opportunities for recreation and tourism development."

Fontana was welcomed at the Villa Castiglioni headquarters by Park President Ismaele Rognoni, Park Director Claudio De Paola, Park staff, and volunteers from the Park headquarters on Ponte Vecchio in Magenta. The tour included a stop at the fish hatchery at the La Fagiana Park Center, one of the landmarks of the first regional park established in Italy, and the "Chiare Tracce" exhibition marking the Park's fiftieth anniversary, showcasing the Parco Ticino branded products with controlled production, a symbol of the agricultural region's excellence. "This visit," said Ticino Park President Ismaele Rognoni, "is an important and meaningful moment for us. A renewed institutional dialogue with the Lombardy Region is essential to effectively addressing the future challenges of Ticino Park, Lombardy's treasure trove. I sincerely thank President Fontana for his attention, his willingness to listen and engage in dialogue, and for visiting us together with Councilor Comazzi, with whom we maintain an ongoing dialogue. Only through continued collaboration can we ensure active and forward-thinking protection of this extraordinary territory."
